Seven people including four children have been taken to hospital following a collision between a car and pedestrians, Sussex Police have said.
The force said a seriously injured child was taken to hospital by air ambulance following the collision on College Road in the West Sussex village of Ardingly.
Six other people were taken to hospital by road, including three children with potentially serious injuries.
Officers were called to the scene shortly after 4.30pm on Monday.
South East Coast Ambulance said its crews treated and transported the patients to local hospitals, three of which have “potentially serious injuries”.
It added that one patient is in a “critical condition” and was transported by air ambulance to St George’s Hospital in London.
Sussex Police said it was investigating the “ongoing matter” and that no further information is available at this time.
