The UK’s first purpose-built Odeon Luxe Cinema will be opening its doors on Bridge Street this Wednesday 28th November 2018. Stafford FM was privileged to be invited to look round and get a behind the scenes guided tour by General Manager Martin Purchase five days before the grand opening.

The £6.5 million cinema next to the River Sow has created 45 local jobs and it’s hoped that the new cinema will draw people into the town centre and help boost the local economy.

Several Odeon Cinemas have been refurbished to Luxe standard across the country, but this is the very first purpose-built one of its kind.  Construction of the cinema started back in March 2018 and was due to be completed in June but there were delays due to issues with utility pipes and foundations. It’s now complete with 423 handmade, fully-reclining seats inside and six state-of-the-art screens featuring surround sound. Every seat on every row in the new Odeon Luxe has been expertly designed so you can relax and recline during your film. With less seats and more personal space and 3 times the leg room of normal cinema’s providing a more immersive experience.

Also, there’s pitch-perfect Dolby Atmos sound and flawless 4K projection and 56 speakers across all of its auditoriums, helping make the films become breathtakingly real. The Odeon Luxe also has an ultra-high-definition curved iSense screen, which is 15m by 6.2m and taller than a double-decker bus.

The first movies to be shown include Ralph Breaks The Internet, Creed II and Mary Poppins Returns. This is a cinema like you’ve never experienced before and it’s great that Stafford has the very first purpose-built Odeon Luxe Cinema anywhere in the country.

Stafford cinema goers now have much more choice with the original Stafford Cinema on Newport Road still open with three screens showing both 2D and 3D films ranging from blockbusters to cultural screenings. The Stafford Cinema is an imposing landmark building and was built in the 1930s as a single screen cinema, later the original circle was sub-divided to provide two additional cinema screens at first floor level.

Listen to The Entertainment Centre on Stafford FM this Wednesday (28th Nov) between 7-8pm with Jamie Finn and Vaughan Murphy to find out more about the Odeon Luxe Stafford and how you can be in with a chance to win some FREE tickets. You can hear the guided tour of the new Odeon Luxe Stafford with Ray Crowther and General Manager Martin Purchase on the show this Wednesday, or by clicking below….
