On the show we covered a very different subject of E Sports. We debated E Sports and should they be classed as a sport as well as what E Sports involves and how it has grown.
We had very different and some strangely similar views on the topic…
Guest throughout the whole show was Bradley James who comments…
“Welcome to Stafford FM’s lively debate on E-Sports! In this show we talk about the validity of calling E-sports a “Sport” with special guests, Bradley James; a Ludology based PhD student and Game Design lecturer at Staffordshire University and Stafford FM’s own Kieron Davies. As well as coming to some interesting conclusions on the subject, we discuss some lesser known facts and tools that people can use to not only enrich their gaming experiences but also to help change the public perception of the stereotypical gamer; tune in to find out more!”
Presenter, Fitness Instructor and Sports Coach Leah Claire argued in her opinion… ‘The true definition of sport involves physical activity and it is wrong and misleading to class gaming as a sport and also something that is healthy. The act in itself can cause health issues and with childhood obesity on the rise it is wrong to claim that gaming has health benefits. Infact, we are a dying nation and have a whole generation with health issues due to inactivity and spending long periods of time at a computer’
What are your thoughts? This has been an immotive subject and lots of very strong opposing opinions have been voiced already… What do you think, comment below… We welcome a good healthy debate on this subject
