Former Aston Villa defender Jlloyd Samuel has died at 37, crashing his Range Rover after he dropped his children off at school.

Samuel made 199 appearances for Villa with his first being in 1998

A statement on Aston Villa’s facebook page read:

“We are deeply saddened to hear of the death of our former player Jlloyd Samuel at the age of just 37 in a car accident
Our players will wear black armbands as a mark of respect tonight and our thoughts are with his friends and family at this very difficult time”

A Statement on the page of the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association said he had “collided with an oncoming van”.

Stan Collymore also took to twitter to give his tribute.
