In a post on social media The Bear Stafford has confirmed they have ceased trading with immediate Effect.

A letter on social media says:

To Customers, Colleagues and Friends,

Take notice that under the Directive of The Board of Directors Clear Box Premises Limited t/a The Bear, Stafford has ceased trading on Tuesday 22nd October 2019

On Friday 25th of October Marstons PLC with take full possession of the property and will continue trading in the future

The letter ends with wishing everyone a prosperous future

The closure has come as a shock to many with the venue only reopening 18months ago after a refurbishment. In a statement on social media pub manager Jack Taylor posted:

It is with a heavy heart, regret & a tear in my eye that I announce the Closure of The Bear, Stafford.

After spending over 18 months building the place up it, Marstons PLC have decided they no longer want us at the Premises & as such we are vacating the premises.

I cannot stress my thanks to each and every single one of you for you support, friendship & dedication to The Bear & i truly never wanted this to happen. I have met friends for life & really wish that this situation was different.

At this moment, I simply ask for any assumptions to be kept to yourselves & respect this decision.

My love to you all, I hope to see you all around in the future.

Jack x
