Thousands of people are expected to turn out as they always do for this year’s Christmas light switch on around the Christmas tree in the Market Square on Saturday 17th November at 5pm.

As a tribute to the RAF who are marking their 100th birthday the honour of the Christmas light switch on will be given to representatives from the Royal Air Force’s Tactical Supply Wing based at MoD Stafford.

The Christmas light switch on will be followed by a fireworks show from the top of the Guildhall Shopping Centre.

The party itself will start at 3pm with an old school Christmas disco followed by a performance by 70s themed Dancing Queen “the concert” which features hits from Abba, Grease and Boogie Nights.

Councillor Mike Smith said in an interview “It is always a great day for children and families with lots going on throughout the afternoon and I am very pleased that this year the switching on of the lights will honour those from our Tactical Supply Wing of the Royal Air Force.”

Stafford FM will be around on the day, we will be hosting a Christmas disco inside the Guildhall shopping centre so come down and say hello!

We look forward to starting the Christmas celebrations for 2018 with you in the heart of Stafford.
