Stafford MP, Jeremy Lefroy has put his name to a letter co-authored by Conservative MP Richard Graham and Labour MP Nic Dakin calling on the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Philip Hammond to look at boosting funding for Further Education
The letter has the support of 165 MPs from four parties represented in Parliament.
Commenting, Jeremy said: “We have excellent local colleges here in Staffordshire and it is vital we do all we can to support them. While government policy has protected the incomes of schools and universities, colleges have been dealt an average funding reduction of 30% over the last ten years. Our colleges are a key driver of social mobility and help to deliver the skilled workforce our local businesses want. The Chancellor’s departmental spending review is a chance to announce an above inflation increase which would boost skills, productivity and social mobility.”
