There is something for everyone at the Stafford Churches of St Mary’s and St Chad’s this Christmas.  Beginning with the ever popular Christmas Tree Festival at St Mary’s, which begins on Wednesday 4th December and continues every day until Sunday 8th December with Carols Among the Christmas Trees at 2.30pm bringing the festival to a close.

Father Richard Grigson, the Rector of Stafford said ‘This year’s festival will be bigger and better than last year, with 114 decorated Christmas Trees, with 18 schools and 12 other choirs and music groups performing.  We are pleased that the Cannock Citadel Band of the Salvation Army and Yarlet School are performing again at the Carols Among the Christmas Trees, a great opportunity for everyone to come and sing their favourite carols’.

There will be an opportunity for weary shoppers to sing Carols at 12noon Wednesday 18th December at St Chad’s, 1pm, Thursday 19th at St Mary’s, 12noon,  Friday 20th at St Chad’s, and on Saturday 21st at St Mary’s Church at 2pm.

On Sunday 22nd December St Leonard’s Church Marston are holding a Carol Service at 4pm, while at St Mary’s Church there will be the Traditional Service of Nine Lessons and Carols at 6.30pm in the presence of the Mayor of Stafford.

Christmas Eve sees the very popular Christingle Service at St Mary’s Church commencing 4pm, which is especially for children, followed by The First Mass of Christmas Service at St Leonard’s Church Marston at 6pm and then the First Mass of Christmas Service at St Chad’s at 8pm and Midnight Mass at St Mary’s commencing 11.30pm.

On Christmas day there will be two Eucharist services at St Mary’s Church, 8am and 9.30am Family Worship.

Father Grigson added, ‘Everyone is most welcome to join us at these services and events, which will make Christmas so special, and what it is meant to be’.
